"If things are done correctly, the heat and pressure generated within the crucible of competition should burn away all that is base and false, leaving only the pure and true."

~ James C. Wofford

The Appaloosa Show Team at ADVANTAGE RANCH is dedicated to the enrichment of our horses and ourselves through focused preparation and regular competition at the regional and national level. We believe that for both children and adults alike, competition provides a form of evaluation that is critical for true and accurate self-reflection and assessment in the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of life. In working to master the many elements of equine completion within the Appaloosa industry, Show Team members work in a positive and productive atmosphere, learning to recognize successes in daily life and to become a positive force for the good of one’s horse, one’s community, and oneself. People come to ADVANTAGE RANCH to master their chosen sport and, in the process, they gain self-discipline, confidence, a strong work ethic, and an appreciation for life and all its many opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute.

The Appaloosa Show Team at ADVANTAGE RANCH consists of two levels of participation. At the Premier Level, members compete at local and regional shows, gaining confidence and competence in equine competition without the pressure or time commitment required to compete at the national level. After successful experiences at the Premier Level, members may graduate to the Elite Level where National and World Champions are made. Both adult non-professionals and young people participate in each level of the ADVANTAGE RANCH Show Team.

Finally, outside clinicians are regularly invited to ADVANTAGE RANCH through The Clinic Series, a program that is designed to illuminate the connections between horse and rider in order to improve technical ability and compassion in pursuit of personal goals related to our work with horses. These clinicians are invited specifically for the insight they bring to riding and training and are designed to augment the coaching provided to Show Team members and mounts. These Clinics have limited enrollment opportunities and Show Team members enjoy first access to the slots available. Past clinicians have included coaches from the top echelons of the Appaloosa industry such as Sue Cumming Schultz of Deerfield Farm in Washington and Carol Dal Porto of Dal Porto Ranch in California.

Horse ownership is required to compete on both the Premier and Elite levels of the Appaloosa Show Team. Deb can advise on the selection and purchase of a suitable horse to meet your competition goals and dreams!

The Appaloosa Show Team at ADVANTAGE RANCH has an impressive record and many stories to share of young people who arrived without much drive or direction and left after high school graduation with acceptance letters to some of the top universities in the nation. In a culture where the expectations of parents, peers, and society are often in conflict, and where young people are struggling and often unsure of themselves, the Show Team provides a welcome alternative.
