Debora Anne Dyer is the founder and executive director of ADVANTAGE RANCH Center for Equine Interactive Concepts. She brings to her program the experience of living and riding on three continents under a variety of disciplines and cultural influences. Ms. Dyer has Bachelors degrees in Equestrian Studies and Political Science-Pre Law with graduate course work in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing. She is a member of American Riding Instructors Association, North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association and others. Her diverse educational and personal background contribute to a unique perspective on the use of horses as a media to enrich the lives of children. A devoted mother of two daughters, Ms. Dyer’s dedication to the emotional well-being of children is a personal as well as professional commitment. Ms. Dyer’s twenty year career specializes in the use of horses to provide interactive growth experiences that enrich the emotional well-being of children. In her Equine Interactive Counseling™ program Dyer has worked with a wide variety of children including "at risk" children from dysfunctional families, children with learning disabilities and developmental difficulties, children with antisocial behaviors, children with esteem problems and depression, and "gifted and talented" children. Ms. Dyer’s coaching expertise in the mainstream horse industry has yielded over 100 National Top Ten titles for her student riders in the last decade. These achievements represent only 10% of her clients, the remaining children reaching personal goals in other areas. In Dyer’s program winning is the logical by-product of personal growth, but it is not the only recognized result. The lessons learned are applicable to academics, spiritual advancement, self-awareness, improved family and interpersonal relationships, and enhanced environmental responsibility. In short, as participants in the Dyer program learn to build good partnerships with their horses they also learn to build good partnerships with their world. For these reasons Ms. Dyer is a sought after coach, clinician, and lecturer who provides short courses and motivational seminars throughout the country. Through her work at ADVANTAGE Resource, the support services branch of ADVANTAGE RANCH, Ms. Dyer provides consulting services to horses businesses and therapeutic riding centers nationwide. She also heads the development of training and teaching tools, produces video and audio tape series, and is the author of five books that will be available starting in 1998. These books include EVERY CHILD’S DREAM, written specifically for parents as a tool for demystifying Equine Interactive Counseling™, and placing this wonderful program for enriching children’s emotional well-being within the reach of every family. |
